General Information A-B

In order to ensure the safety of all students after dismissal at the end of the day, students will be expected to leave the school grounds immediately unless participating in a school sponsored activity. Students being picked up by car are expected to go immediately to the pick-up zone in the north parking lot. Students being picked up by daycare van are expected to go immediately to the pick-up zone in the south parking lot. Students are not permitted to stay and play on the playground unless under the direct supervision of a parent or guardian. All students who are not sure what they are to do after school should go immediately to the school main office for help.

Students who eat breakfast should arrive at 8:30 a.m. and line up outside the cafeteria doors. ALL OTHER STUDENTS should arrive no sooner than 8:50 a.m. and line up at their designated area near their classroom. Please do not play on the playground before school. THERE IS NO ADULT SUPERVISION BEFORE 8:50 a.m.

Students 10 years and older will be permitted to ride bikes to school. If this is something you are interested in doing, you must complete the John Muir Bicycle Contract, indicating you agree to follow the list of safety rules and have met the required conditions. Any student requesting permission to ride a bike to school may only do so after turning in this document and receiving principal approval. Bicycle contracts are available in the front office or you may print a contract from our school website.

By building policy, students may not distribute birthday invitations at school. Please mail them or hand deliver outside school hours.

Breakfast is served and eaten in the cafeteria from 8:30 a.m. to 8:55 a.m. Lunch is served and eaten in the cafeteria starting at 11:30 a.m. All food is to be eaten in the cafeteria and is not allowed on the playground.

Breakfast/Lunch prices are as follows:

Student breakfast $1.50
Adult breakfast $2.50
Milk/Juice only $ .50
Student lunch $3.00
Adult lunch $4.00

Forms for Free or Reduced Price Breakfast and Lunch are available in the school office. If a child qualifies, a new form must be submitted at the beginning of each school year.

A cash register program is used. Money is deposited into the student’s account and the cost of the meal or milk is deducted from their account. Parents are notified when the account is low on funds. A check or cash may be sent and should be given to the teacher when students enter the classroom.
